A light scalar WIMP?
KTH/Nordita/SU seminar in Theoretical Physics [before December 2013]

Wednesday 09 June 2010
from 11:00 to 12:00
at FA31
Speaker : Michel Tytgat (Université Libre de Bruxelles)
Abstract : There is recently some interest in light dark matter, Mdm ~ GeV. This interest is motivated by direct detection experiment anomalies, most notably DAMA and CoGeNT (and to some extent CDMS-II). I will first review the experimental situation. Then I will argue that the data, together with the cosmological observations of the relic abundance of dark matter, point to a very simple candidate, a singlet scalar particle, interacting with the visible sector (ie the Standard Model) through the Higgs field. I will conclude with a discussion on the potential implications of this model for indirect searches of dark matter as well as the search of the Higgs at the LHC.
