Abstract :
Photoswitches are molecules that can reversibly change their physical properties upon light absorption. In the first part of the presentation, I show details of the switching mechanism which can help tailoring systems to meet specific goals. In the second part, I discuss the problem that following the dynamics of bimolecular reactions often suffers from ill-defined starting conditions as molecules are typically not in a predefined configuration. Here, I present a system that might allow overcoming this fundamental problem.
