The inner ear fascinates! This small and very delicate structure is capable of encoding sound-evoked motions smaller than a billionth of a meter. This remarkable capacity depends on the sensory cells, the inner and outer hair cells, which are arranged in a complicated three-dimensional structure together with surrounding supporting cells.
I want to understand how hearing happens - and find ways of combating hearing loss.
