Mechanisms of near-threshold sound detection
  KTH Applied Physics seminars

Thursday 14 February 2013
from 09:00 to 10:00
at FA32
Speaker : Anders Fridberger (Inst. för klinisk vetenskap, intervention och teknik (CLINTEC) Karolinska Institutet )
Abstract : The inner ear fascinates! This small and very delicate structure is capable of encoding sound-evoked motions smaller than a billionth of a meter. This remarkable capacity depends on the sensory cells, the inner and outer hair cells, which are arranged in a complicated three-dimensional structure together with surrounding supporting cells. I want to understand how hearing happens - and find ways of combating hearing loss.
