Scope

At the beginning of 2013 the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) shuts down for extensive upgrades aiming towards a 14 TeV collider, upgrades that are expected to take almost two years. In the summer of 2013 the particle physics community is then at a cross-roads: we have the results of the ground-breaking 8 TeV physics programme with large statistics, and we have relatively mature analysis of this data, exploring the properties of a Higgs boson candidate and extensively probing New Physics. Quo vadis?

The 14 TeV LHC will look further above the electroweak scale, but where do we go beyond that to improve our understanding of the fundamental constituents of the Universe? Should we look to the results of a high-luminosity SLHC or a higher energy VLHC, do we need a precision linear collider at ILC or CLIC energies or will we return to LEP 3, are neutrino or flavour experiments essential to move forward, what can we learn from astrophysics? The exploration of these problems is the topic of this programme.

Format

There will be one or at most two talks per day with plenty of time for discussions and collaboration in a relaxed atmosphere. Due to practical limitations, there will be room for a maximum of 25 participants at any given time. KTH and Stockholm University will host the European Physical Society’s (EPS) High Energy Physics Conference 18–24 July 2013. The venues for both the plenary and parallel sessions are quite close to Nordita, and we encourage programme participants to also register for the EPS conference.

The programme will culminate in a three day joint theory and experiment Beyond the LHC Workshop in Stockholm, which will take place after the EPS conference, 25–27 July. Here the consequences of the most recent LHC results will be discussed.

Application

If you want to apply for participation in the program, please fill in the application form. You will be informed by the organizers shortly after the application deadline whether your application has been approved. Due to space restrictions, the total number of participants is strictly limited. (Invited speakers are of course automatically approved, but need to register anyway.)

Application deadline: 6 May 2013

A minimum stay of one working week for the programme is required and we encourage participants to stay for a period of at least two weeks. Note that we expect extra interest in the programme for the weeks of the EPS conference and priority then will be given to longer stays.

There is no registration fee.

Travel Reimbursement

We will have some money to cover travel expenses (but no per diem) for programme participants. If you need this support, please mark the corresponding field in the application form, and indicate an estimation of your expected travel expenses. Decision concerning travel expenses will be made on a case-by-case basis and you will be notified shortly after the application deadline.

Accommodation

Nordita provides a limited number of rooms in the Stockholm apartment hotel BizApartments free of charge for accepted programme participants.
