Abstract :
For matrix analogues of embedded surfaces
discrete versions of curvature and the
Euler characteristic will be presented,
illustrating the new notions by a large
class of examples. If time permits,
a new Hamiltonian formulation of membranes
moving in curved space will be discussed.
